The Women of the Hill is a verbatim theatre script I wrote based on interviews conducted with local women and written during a residency at the Healing Hills Art Space in Badisher, Haryana, India, November 18 – December 30 2018.
A public reading of this script was performed on two occasions, on December 16 and on December 26, as part of the Mother Tongue exhibition, at the Government Museum and Art Gallery in Chandigarh, India. Performers included Alexa Wilson, Gabrielle New, Josephine Archer, Vicky Kapo, Chelsea Baxter, Joanne Hobern, Antonia Barnett-McIntosh, Sara Cowdell. A very special thank you goes to Rubal Preet Kaur for sharing her story and for being my interpreter and guide, in addition to my son’s primary caregiver during this residency.
